Welcome Everyone

Hi everybody,

I have created this blog following the petition of a lot of you! This blog will help us to re-connect, keep in touch, communicate with everyone in the GLP Alumni Network and share our goals, projects and achievements. I hope we all make good use of it and I hope this benefits us all!

  1. my name is Virginia Campo I am a GLP Alumna of GLP Prague 2008 and I have been student coordinator for GLP Berlin 2009, GLP Prague Semester 2009 and I have recently finished coordinating GLP Panama in June 2010. I am also the one in charge of managing the GLP Alumni Database so any changes of emails, information you want to share etc you can contact me. I am currently living in Panama but I was born in Cali, Colombia.

I am currently working and carrying on with a lot of my dreams and proposals. My project proposal in GLP Prague semester along with another GLP Alumni, Sebastian Arias, was to bring GLP to Colombia and Panama. Even though we had planned it for June 2011, we were able to coordinate GLP Panama in June of this year. GLP Panama was a success, and it will be carried out next year again simultaneously to Prague (July 2011). GLP Panama united students from Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and the United States that created a Leadership Network called AUL (Americas United for Leadership). This network was created with the end of keeping in touch between the members but at the same time develop change projects in the region that will unite young leaders and in which the members can put into practice all that was learnt during the program. If you want to be part of AUL and get to know about our projects you can log in to our Blog: http://glppanama.createblog.com/blog/

Apart from GLP, I am currently working in Quality Leadership University (www.qlu.ac.pa) in Panama as Study Abroad Program Coordinator. I am in charge of developing and bringing Study Abroad Programs to Panama and at the same time send Panamanian students from out University to study abroad. For any of you interested in Panama or in studying abroad or doing an internship in Panama you can also contact me (vcampo@qlu.ac.pa) and I would be glad to provide you with any information you might need.

Well I wish all of you a great end of summer and we hope to hear from you and your accomplishments soon.
    Best Regards,
    Virginia Campo

  2. This blog is a great Idea!!!
I just recently reconnected the GLP although I have been in contact with some of my fellow GLPers from Cordoba Argentina since the summer of 06! I’ve also been moving around all over the place since the program in Argentina. I spent the following school year in Germany where I studied cultural and business studies.

In June of 2009 I also graduated receiving a BA in International Affairs and a BA in Spanish philology. After study abroad opportunities in Germany I graduated with so many credits in four years that I was not only able to double major but minor in French, Govt, German and Econ.

I just got back from a year in Spain with a program from the Ministerio de Educacion. I received a grant to teach English for a year and it was such a great experience. Since graduating I have also been a member of a year-long fellowship program called the George Nethercutt Program. This fellowship culminated in 2 weeks in WA, DC where we met with congressional leaders, think-tanks, international organization, media giants, NGOs and business leaders. I was able to directly put much of the knowledge about global citizenship I acquired in Cordoba, Argentina to practice when meeting with the IMF and WB. It was all so very interesting. I am currently studying for the LSAT and I hope to go to law school starting the fall of 2011. Until then I am searching for jobs or internships and I would like to do something with an international focus. So if anyone has any great ideas for jobs or internships in the US or abroad let me know!
